2015 – That was the Year that was…
2015 marked the return of NEIN. Prior to 2015, the last time NEIN played together was at the Holiday Bowl parade on December 21, 1985. Directly after that gig, the band disbanded, so it had been nearly 30 years since the band had played together. There was much excitement in the decision to get back together after so many years apart.
The first practice was held on January 12, 2015, and while it was evident the band had a little rust to shake off, they found that the basic chemistry that made this band special was still intact – the trio still had that innate ability to communicate in their own indubitable way.
The first gig was held on April 16 at Winston’s in Ocean Beach, CA. The band was excited to officially grace a stage again and did not disappoint. A short, but powerful set was unveiled and the show was capped off with pyrotechnics as only Clifford could deliver.
The band landed a gig on June 10 at the coveted Coors Light Rock On! Stage at the San Diego County Fair. Many of NEIN’s loyal fans attended the anticipated gig and NEIN did not disappoint.
In late September, the band embarked on their “Catholic Charities Tour 2015” – the band donated their musical services to two Catholic churches, playing their brand of exciting Rock and Roll to an appreciative audience. On September 19, the band played at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Chula Vista, CA, and on October 3 the band capped off the tour at Holy Family Catholic Church in Linda Vista, CA.
To cap off the year, on December 4 the band graced the Botanical Garden Stage at December Nights at Balboa Park. The band energized an appreciative crowd with a power-packed set.
The band also triumphantly returned to the recording studio. Prior to 2015, the only other official release was the single produced in 1984 – “Upside Down” b/w “Who Breaks a Wheel on a Butterfly?”. The band worked with Peter Duff at Grey Brick Recording Studio to produce a power-packed single of “(I Wanna Incite a) Riot”. The single was released on December 11, and the band is planning a full-scale album to complement the single.
As 2015 comes to a close, we thank all of our fans and friends! It was a joy to get back together to Rock and Roll once again, and we look forward to building upon the success of this year into 2016 and beyond!
